WHY PHARMACEUTICAL FARMING

What It Means to Supply a Certified API Manufacturer

Agricultural supply into an ICH Q7 pharmaceutical manufacturing process is fundamentally different from commodity crop farming. The requirements are more specific, the documentation is more thorough — and the price premium and supply security are substantially better. Here is what Phytrax partner growers receive.

Guaranteed Offtake
Fixed-volume purchase commitment removes the market price uncertainty of selling through open agricultural commodity channels.
Premium Pricing
Pharmaceutical-grade raw material commands 3–5× the price of commodity botanical extract. Quality performance bonuses are structured into supply agreements.
Technical Support
Free access to Phytrax agronomic advisory — including soil testing, irrigation guidance, pest management, and post-harvest drying protocols compliant with ICH Q7 §7.
Long-Term Partnership
Phytrax's ICH Q7 traceability requirements mean we invest in long-term agricultural relationships, not spot-market sourcing. Preferred suppliers receive volume commitments spanning multiple harvests.
Market Access
Your produce enters a globally certified pharmaceutical supply chain. Every lot you supply carries GPS traceability through to the final API exported to the US, EU, and ASEAN pharmaceutical markets.
Compliance Framework
Phytrax provides you with the record-keeping templates and training needed to meet ICH Q7 raw material documentation requirements — no prior pharmaceutical experience needed.

SUPPLIER STANDARDS

Agricultural Compliance Requirements for ICH Q7 Raw Material Supply

Phytrax's agricultural partner standards are derived from ICH Q7 §7.1 (Starting Material Sourcing) and ICH Q11 (Development and Manufacture of Drug Substances). The following requirements apply to all suppliers regardless of species. Phytrax provides training and template documentation for all six areas.

Botanical Identity Documentation
Each lot must supply a botanical identity voucher specimen retained by a Thai herbarium, plus an HPTLC fingerprint conducted by Phytrax QC on a representative sample from every harvest.
Pesticide & Agrochemical Register
Suppliers must maintain a written agrochemical usage log for each plot: product name, application date, rate, and purpose. EU MRL compliance is mandatory. Phytrax conducts annual residue screens (200+ analytes by LC-MS/MS).
GPS & Blockchain Batch Traceability
Each harvested lot must be assigned GPS coordinates for the specific cultivation plot. At intake, this geolocation data is written to an immutable blockchain ledger alongside harvest date, grower ID, and biomass weight — creating a tamper-proof on-chain record traceable by any buyer or regulator via the transaction hash. Retained in Phytrax's electronic batch system for 5 years post-API release.
Harvest & Post-Harvest Records
Growers maintain a simple Harvest Record per lot: harvest date, weather, biomass weight, estimated moisture content, drying method, and packaging used. Phytrax provides a template compliant with ICH Q7 §7.1 raw material traceability requirements.
Transport & Chain-of-Custody
Dried botanical material must be delivered in sealed, labelled polypropylene woven sacks (25 kg or 50 kg) with a lot-specific delivery note. No mixing of different harvest dates or plots in a single sack is permitted.
Sustainable Practice Certification
Phytrax prioritizes suppliers working toward GlobalG.A.P., Thai GAP, or organic certification. Certification is not mandatory for initial supply, but is required to qualify for the premium-tier offtake pricing brackets.
APPLICATION PROCESS

How to Become a Phytrax Agricultural Supplier
